Engine will not start after battery negative terminal was disconnected

A Ford Transit Connect (2007) with 1.8 Duratorq TDCI engine was struggling with the following fault codes after the battery negative terminal was disconnected.

A P1602-78 PATS PCM communication error was stored in the engine management. A B2139-20 code was stored in the instrument panel.

The Jifeline support team supported the workshop in a so-called PATS initialisation. After this, the engine could be restarted.
